Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.
Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.
Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?
But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.
Wicked is the second series I have read of Jennifer’s, the other series is the Lux series and I am in the middle of reading that one. Jennifer know how to write leading female characters that have snarky comment, incredible with and are beyond brave. I had forgotten all the smart-ass comments between the characters, the weird conversations, the right comments dropping at the right moment.
I love these characters, Ivy-the smart-ass feisty protagonist, Ren-the sexy as hell love interest who can keep up with Ivy and then there is Tink. I love Tink so much and we get to learn a whole lot more about him in this one and he is still his self-involved weird self. The things that he does… and I got the shock of my life when Ivy finds out something about him.
Seriously this Torn has some of the best lines I have ever read in a book. It’s like these characters are your friends and I was really there with them as they had a conversation. When shit went down the appropriate responses were given and I loved it because it’s like something I would have said, I mean seriously some of the things that come out of my mouth.
Ivy is a strong character and I am not going to lie she is going to go through a lot of crap in this book that would have broken a lesser person. Ivy is a fighter, she tries to be good and do the right thing, she helps people, she cares but she also takes care of herself and is very forgiving.
Torn’s plot was fantastic, it had wonderful flow, everything felt natural and it totally had me captivated. I mean there was fight scenes, steamy sexy scenes, kidnapping, abuse, deaths, mystery, evil plot (I mean hello apocalypse) and shocking surprises. After blazing through this book I need the final book in the trilogy, I can’t wait for Brave to be released.
