Poison by Sarah Pinborough
A beautiful, sexy, contemporary retelling of the classic Snow White fairy tale, illustrated by Les Edwards.
Poison is a beautifully illustrated retelling of the Snow White story which takes all the elements of the classic fairy tale that we love (the handsome prince, the jealous queen, the beautiful girl and, of course, the poisoning) and puts a modern spin on the characters, their motives and their desires. It’s fun, contemporary, sexy, and perfect for fans of Once Upon a Time, Grimm, Snow White and the Huntsman and more.
I love fairytales and fairytale retellings, so when I discovered Sarah’s version I knew I wanted to get them. It did however take me a little while (over a year) to get them, first they changed covers and then the price went up so I got the omnibus from Book Depository.
When I read the description I thought it was more of a modern retelling for some reason so I was a little shocked that it was just a classic retelling of the fairytale but had a more of an adult spin on it. these are adult books I wouldn’t recommend for anyone under the age of 18.
The story was interesting enough and I was able to finish it. I don’t know if it’s because it wasn’t what I expected but I thought the story was just okay, I am certainly happy I didn’t pay the high price of the individual books but the story was decent enough.
