Winter (Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer
Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mark her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend–the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters? Fans will not want to miss this thrilling conclusion to Marissa Meyer’s national bestselling Lunar Chronicles series.
Winter is the fourth and final book in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. As true to the previous books in the series, Winter is the fairytale retelling of Snow White and it was amazing.
Meyer had all the classic parts to let you know it was Snow White. I mean there is the beautiful princess who is beloved by the people, the evil queen who goes mad, dead king (maybe not murdered), a pet wolf, a hunter who is also a friend and so much more, I don’t want to give too much away. However it was its own story like the others, set on Luna with a whole bunch of futuristic technology and different customs and lets not forget that this story ties into the main story of the Lunar Chronicles.
Lets just say it, Marissa is a genius, to be able to come up with a complex story/world, make it into a fairytale retelling while keeping it fresh and some how tying the four stories into a much larger story. The story flowed, it didn’t struggle and even I, someone who was pretty sure I wouldn’t like it found it captivating, it really is amazing. The characters stayed true to their roles and I loved them.
Two of my favorites has to be princess Winter and captain Carswell Thorne. Winter on the other hand had every reason to be cruel and use her gift especially using her gift but she didn’t. Winter was the kindest sweetest person ever, she didn’t look down on others, she helped when she could and she didn’t let Levana’s cruelty turn her cruel. She also didn’t use her gift, no matter what because she felt that it was wrong to take advantage of it people and she was bats-in the attic crazy but it made me more endearing to her. Thorne was the redemption story, the thief who didn’t think too much about others end-up a revolutionary, he saved a country and had friends who counted on him and who he counted on. Thorne also happen to be a daring and funny risk taker, I found his personality totally loveable.
Winter was the perfect ending to the Lunar chronicles, after all it is a fairytale so the ending had to good. I was won over by the series and I am so glad that I gave it a chance.
